Face a Face describes the Frank 1 as generous and masculine, and that’s a fair summary. It’s a thick acetate rectangle with a solid pin and a five-piece hinge, and “Hand Made” is printed on the arm. What makes it interesting is how different its six colors are from each other.
Size
The Frank 1 measures 51-19-145: 51 mm lenses, a 19 mm bridge and 145 mm arms. The lenses are 38 mm tall, which gives it a fairly low, wide shape. It’s full-rim acetate, front and arms, and it’s $532.
To compare it with your current glasses, add the lens width twice to the bridge: 51 + 51 + 19 comes to 121 mm. Do the same with the numbers inside the arm of your own pair. It’s a rough guide, since the corners add a little, but it tells you quickly if you’re in the right range.
The six colors
All six were in stock when we wrote this.
- Blue Transparent to Black (2242): black from the front, with royal blue arms and blue showing on the inside. From across a room it reads as a black frame.
- Mondrian Grey (0643): a mosaic of gray, pale blue, beige and pink pieces outlined in black, with bright orange arms. The loudest of the six.
- Grey Yellow Anis (7455): black front with a thin anise-green line on the inside edge, and horn-effect arms.
- Tortoise Black Green (0427): black with patches of emerald green.
- Brown Grey Horn (0119): a gray-brown horn pattern with clear arms.
- Caramel Transparent (0864): see-through caramel with navy arms.

If you want the build without the attention, 2242 and 0427 are the quiet ones. If you’d like people to ask about your glasses, go for the Mondrian.
