KameManNen makes its frames in Sabae, the city in Fukui known for Japanese eyewear making. The company began in 1917 as a plating factory, turned to eyewear after the Second World War, and says it made the world’s first titanium eyewear in 1981.

About Kame ManNen
The name comes from a Japanese saying, tsuru wa sennen, kame wa mannen: the crane lives a thousand years, the turtle ten thousand. It reflects founder Kikujiro Kimura's wish for eyewear that lasts. The color range is deliberately small, because KameManNen's colors come from metal plating and ion plating, a slow process that gives a very hard-wearing finish. In 2013 a KameManNen design was nominated for the SILMO d'Or, one of the eyewear industry's best-known awards.

Each frame lists three numbers, for example 47□21-145: lens width, bridge and temple length in millimeters. Compare them with the numbers inside the arm of a pair that fits you well. Here's how to read them.
