The KameManNen 99 is the brand’s classic round frame. It was first designed to hold thick lenses neatly, and its three-dimensional metal rim is machined so the thickness changes slightly around the eye, which gives the metal a soft play of light and shadow. The pad arms and nose pads are kept small, so the frame looks clean on the face.
Sizes: 43 or 45 mm lens width, 22 mm bridge, 145 mm temples.
Also available: the 99 Clip sun clip made for this frame, and the 99 SUN sunglasses.
About KameManNen: the company started in 1917 in Fukui, Japan, as a metal-plating workshop and, after the Second World War, became an eyewear maker in Sabae, the town at the heart of Japanese frame making. It is often called Japan’s oldest eyewear brand, and in 1981 it was the first in the world to make eyeglass frames from titanium. Frame colors come from metal plating and ion plating, a slow process chosen because the finish lasts.
