The KameManNen 9918 is an oval metal frame. Its three-dimensional rim is built to hold thicker lenses naturally, and the thickness of the rim varies in places, which gives the metal front more depth than a flat wire frame. The pad arms and nose pads are designed to stay out of sight. Classic in shape, but not overly retro.
Sizes: 45 or 48 mm lens width, 22 mm bridge, 145 mm temples.
About KameManNen: the company started in 1917 in Fukui, Japan, as a metal-plating workshop and, after the Second World War, became an eyewear maker in Sabae, the town at the heart of Japanese frame making. It is often called Japan’s oldest eyewear brand, and in 1981 it was the first in the world to make eyeglass frames from titanium. Frame colors come from metal plating and ion plating, a slow process chosen because the finish lasts.
